weight lifting..........................?

Hey
Im slightly underweight
Ive decided im going to start to lift weights.
Can i be all round muscular without going to the gym?
Can i just buy a few weights and get muscular by using them, and doing sit-ups and things that don't require gym Equipment.

Also, if i eat the right food for gaining muscles, and work out until my muscles cant do anymore for maximum muscle growth, How much weight will i gain in one week? a week of eating muscle food and working out lots.
How much weight could i gain in 3 months of this?
im male if that makes any difference to how much weight ill gain.

Thanks! :]

1. yes u dont need the gym, as long as u have enough equipment at home. u can buy cheap used weight sets on craigslist, i suggest u go there.

you will gain nothing in only a week, building muscle takes time, after 3 months you should def see some noticeable gains. but nothing huge, Im talking maybe 5 or so pounds of muscle

2. ya because a lot of dude in jail only can do pushups and situps and i think some chinups and they get big so just do plenty of pushups every second day full form and plenty of chinups everyday in between and you can do a bit of situps everyday. especially since your skinny chinups and pushups will be easier for you than if you were a big fat kid and drink plenty of water because muscles need that and eat protein after every workout like a protein shake or some chicken and have more small snacks a day and sleep 8 hours and your arms will be like an inch and a half bigger in 3 months and way stronger

3. It depends how big you want to get, because you'll need to be lifting heavier weights to get bigger, so it depends how much equipment you have at home. If you're limited to push ups, sit ups, and light weights, you won't be able to get very big.

Most people say you can gain about 1 pound of muscle a week under ideal conditions (meaning your training and diet are perfect). However, since you're new to lifting, you could easily gain more than that, assuming you're eating enough calories. You could probably gain around 15 lbs over 3 months if everything goes well.

4. The best way to gain weight it to increase your caloric intake by taking in protein rich foods - chicken/eggs/nuts/fish.

Weight wise, you need to lift large amounts of weights and few repetitions. If you are avoiding the gym, you can try doing push ups wearing a backpack that has weights in it; or strapping weights to your ankles lay on your back and lift your feet a few inches from the floor. Both of those methods will put your muscles through some intense exercises.

To really bulk up, take creatine before/after you train. It gives you energy and helps store water in your muscles thus bulk up. I get mine from http://techplatesdirect.com (coupon code 'Angela' gets 15% off).

Time line really depends on your training regiment, but you can certainly make a difference without going to the gym. If you were actively training I think in 3 months you could gain 10 lbs or more of muscle mass.
