1. In addition to weight lifting, I highly recommend that you eat healthy, and exercise by doing a lot of running every day, during this upcoming (and every) offseason. Doing these things will get you faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful wide receiver in football.
2. its never to late to start weightlifting and i say go for it do bench press squats miliatary press power cleans and stuff like that and pull ups and dips i say you should it will make you stronger
3. im also 14 around 5'9, 165 pounds and a wide reciever. if you want the best results use an agility ladder doing speed and coordination skills while capping all of that off with power cleans. power cleans will help you in your ability to get up for jump balls while the agility ladder should improve your route running skills helping you make crisp and clean cuts on your routes.
4. Everyday walk on the balls of your feet, it will build your calves and make you quicker. You should lift weights en corporate squats, leg presses, calve raises, work your gluts any part of your leg. Also dead lift, hang/power clean but be explosive and in doing this will make you stronger make you quicker and harder to take down. But as a receiver you shouldn't lift a lot of weight, you should focus more on lifting light with more reps added into your routine. Also this will be better for you as a receiver, remember 1 sec up 1 sec down. Really strain your muscles to get them used to taking punishment and they will eventually start growing. And the best advice I can give you for wr is to just practice, practice and practice. Like catching, being explosive off the line, work on routes etc.
5. lifting weights is great and all man but the point to the whole position is catching the ball. I played in a game this year and threw the ball to a WR it hit him in the stomach and he dropped it. Nothing disappoints a QB more than dropped passes. Guess how many times I threw to him after that...
6. I would suggest getting with your coach and talking over this...He is your best bet.....
