What are easy at home weight lifting workouts?

I want to start lifting weight and doing weight training workouts at home with just household items. I'd love any ideas on how to do this! :) Thanks

1. In my opinion, body weight exercises (there are lots of programs on line) are effective but get boring quickly. And trying to use household items ends up turning into a big project where you are building your own equipment.

But I'm a big fan of the Soloflex. You can usually get one from craigslist for $100. It doesn't take up much space at all, the original book comes with a workout program, it's almost as effective as a gym full of freeweights, and it's easy to use and (I think) a decent looking machine. They are very high quality machines, and even though you are often buying one 20 years old, it will still work almost like new. Sometimes a weight strap breaks, but they are pretty sturdy, too. You can always re-sell it for the same price you bought it.

I lost 75 pounds while maintaining my muscle and getting a lot stronger, mostly by diet and just doing the soloflex program as recommended for a few months. Best of all, because it's so easy to set up your exercises once you get used to the machine, it only takes about 30 minutes per workout, three times a week, in the convenience of your own home.
