What weight lifting exercise should I do?

I just started running. I'm currently doing 2-3 miles, 3-4 times a week. I'm also swimming and walking. I want to lose 80 pounds all together, but 40 pounds is my first goal. I have an app for weight lifting, but it has thousands of exercises and I'm not sure what to do! Any suggestions? I weigh about 230 now. I've started the 100 push up challenge so I have some muscle. Any suggestions?

1. At your stage right now I'd stick with cardio and full body excersizes such as pull ups, push ups, sit ups, etc.. but if you really want to hit the weights try doing stuff that incorporates more then one muscle such as flat bench press, squats, deadlifts, lat pulldowns, and maybe some bicep curls.
